i am too big to be contained by this universe. i am the force that pushes form into the void. i am darkness. i am made of stardust and crumbled planets. i am formless, swirling mass. i am perfect order. i am the ruins of of great civilizations. stone tamed by progress, wrought by sheer willpower. we are animals who have become self aware. driven by the need to possess, to dominate and control, taught only to consume. we are conditioned to feel powerless. they promise you heaven so that they may steal your most precious Gift out from under you. the secrets of this world are contained in mountain streams, in the breeze through the leaves of trees, and the crashing waves on a lonely beach. know this as the only truth: you are the most powerful being in the universe. you can move mountains. you can hold galaxies at the tip of your finger. you are creation and destruction. nights like this the universe clicks into place before me. i am exactly where i need to be. my path is clear. i am insignificant in the vastness of all that exists but i am a cog in the wheel, without me all would fail. i wish that i could give you this feeling. become your own God. make kindness your religion. embrace your darkness, hold it close and know that it is as necessary as the light you bring to the world. the universe will always balance the scales. live simply. listen to your instincts. the world will communicate with you, if you would learn to listen to all the things that you cannot hear.

I have this horrible tendency to care for people who don’t care about me.

"Water, water, everywhere,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink."

The Uses Of Sorrow

(In my sleep I dreamed this poem)

Someone I loved once gave me
a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand
that this, too, was a gift.
